Sex, drugs, violence and laughs abound in Coal Mine Theatre’s “Killer Joe”

April is inadvertently American playwright Tracy Letts month in Toronto.  “August: Osage County,” for which he won the 2008 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, opens this Friday, April 8th at Alumnae Theatre.  (The 2013 film adaptation starring an all-star cast of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Benedict Cumberbatch.)

 Tomorrow night, his first (1993) play “Killer Joe,” opens in an unaffiliated production at Coal Mine Theatre.

The Envelope, Please!  And the Oscar goes to … Toronto!

It was announced recently the national tour of “Beautiful:  The Carole King Musical” will visit Toronto in July 2017, almost a year-and-a-half from now.  If that is for you, in the words of Carole’s classic hit song, “So Far Away," then you can shuffle off to Buffalo’s Shea’s Performing Arts Centre where the tour opens in a little over two weeks, on Tuesday, March 15th for a week long engagement ending Sunday, March 20th.
