From All of Us at Song & Script

Today is the Winter Solstice – the shortest day of the year; the first day of winter.

So today, as the Crosby … (Bing not Sid) … song says, we swing on a star and head back to our Sun, soaring along on our beautiful planet, holding jars of moon beams, eagerly anticipating longer, warmer days and eventually summer and the world’s longest day.

It’s a special year as across Canada we celebrate our sesquicentennial … our 150th birthday … with all of the entertaining musical and theatrical events featuring so many of our talented neighbors, many of them children, the stars of our future!

We are proud that we at Song & Script also mark more than half-a-century as Canada’s longest running “show,” that is our country’s oldest, independently owned music store.

On this occasion, all of us thank you for your friendship and your patronage.  Bob, Dane, Alain and I are grateful for the chance to get to know you and share the pleasure of your company.

Yes, the year 2016 has been one full of many challenges.  During those times, we are reminded of music’s power to connect us and reach each other with compassion, understanding, and happiness when words fail.

We are happy for the many readers from around the world who visit us regularly to shop and read our blogs and for the many talented performers and creators who graciously grant interviews to us.  They share stories about the many wonderful projects they are presenting including concerts, musicals, movies and other multi-media productions.

Toronto … and Canada … remain one of the world’s greatest performing arts centres, attracting the best the world has to offer, and sending our talent to take their place on the world’s stages while remaining free to return home.

We wish you all a happy, healthy and prosperous 2017 with much love for all.

Please continue in 2017 to visit us our store in Yorkville or online to share the joy that music and the arts bring to us all.  Drop in and see our latest selection of songbooks, sheet music, CDs, DVDs and vintage vinyl LPs.

Enjoy the season.  As writer Albert Camus observed, “In the depth of winter I finally learned that there was in me an invincible summer.”
